Respiratory Care Practitioners provide prescribed care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary problems. They assemble, operate and monitor devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, pulmonary function testing equipment and aerosol generators. Examples of their responsibilities include managing patients on mechanical ventilation, assisting patients with breathing exercises, pharmacologic education, and monitoring patients’ physiological responses to therapy.
